A fitting avatar Mr. Hicks. I often wonder what fed the fatal artistry of someone so young, yet obviously so wise.

The UK didn't handle doom well then. I wonder if it'll handle it any better this time around.

Just too bad there is no one like Ian around this time to express it as well as he did.

Hey everyone, just worked through the problem of what to do post latoc, where to go, nice place being set up here by the looks of it, with many old names. I was relatively new to Latoc before it went, and then the even newer Latoc went, and for awhile I was worried, but not so much now.

Oh, yes, I definitely had some fun with you Steve, prowling around the old forum before it went belly up.

Hello All, I like what I see around here. Alex, My hat is off to you for all your efforts.
Also to the Mods who are generously giving their time.
A little back ground if I may.
I followed a lot of you over " There" learned a lot.
    Thankyou.
I am located on the west coast of Canada, on Vancouver Island.
I chose the name "Nahmint" after a Valley on the island it has a river and large lake.
It contains some of the largest trees anywhere in the world some I have seen some are about 10 feet across at the butt.
The lake is home to many large trophy trout.
The river ... some of the largest salmon in the world.
    ......At one time....
Google it if you want to see pictures.
Very few people out here are aware of peak oil, the housing bubble and the financial mess in the world today.
I'm on an Island in more ways than one.
I will chip in on occasion if I can help or whatever, but I'm more of a doer, nuts and bolts kind of guy.
    Thanks All.

    Doom Doom DOOM!

Great looking bunker you got here!!
You might want to look at hiring better security though...the guy at the door just waved me through without so much as a second glance.

    Welcome!
I saw the note where Matt said it was the funniest thing he had ever read on the site. The link did not work or some other malfunction. My attempt to read it was futile and I hate I missed it. If anyone ever gets a read please forward I'd love to read it.......................................Bruce

Steve signed in to the old forum and no one was there. In fact it was supposed to be read only, but a few of us managed to sneak in.

I think I copied the exchanges, I'll see if I can find them.
Here's one, but I loved the "Are the markets still open?!" one, too.

    Where is everyone?
    OMG! HAS IT HAPPENED!

    BSC
Yes, the rapture has taken place. It is only you left now Steve. So party on!

    Steve
Hard to have a party with just me. Drinking alone just doesn't work for me.

Another big thank you to Alex!

I like the Jekyl & Hyde thing going on with the two forums. I'll probably end up here more often.

    Hi everybody!

My introductory post is already on the sister forum, so I won't repeat myself. I am very happy to be here.

Thank you, Alex, for your generosity in giving us a new "home"!

P.S. Nice avatar, BSC! Well, nice is the wrong word, but you know what I mean...

I have a new avatar for a new site. That is me when I was snowed in for a week in my cabin in the woods years ago.
It is never too late to have a happy childhood.
