"your connection to this site is not secure"

I don't come here much anymore because I always get the "site not secure" warning. Anyone else get this here. I don't think its on my end with what I've checked.
    Thanks

I get it when I go to log in sometimes.
Not sure what that is all about.

Should I worry about it or just ignore it and maybe it will go away.

    Not sure.

Let me log out and back in and see if I can get more information.

Thanks, I tried adding the https:// in front of the address, but that didn't help. I'll just keep trying to figure something out, or just not worry about it.

I think that the issue is mostly with the browsers: in recent years, any site that does not use https:// is "insecure" even though something innocent (think looking at articles on Wikipedia) is hardly a way to lose your credit card info, especially if you don't type it. I think what happened, though, is that some developers or project people decided that since one cannot trust what some "people" (think, The Man) will do with the information they might glean from spying on what Wikipedia page you're looking at (have you been looking at the "wrong" pages?) that all people should strive to only look at secure https:// sites. I'm personally not quite that paranoid, but I appreciate the sentiment.

This forum might not have https:// support but that's fine by me.

They have actively monitored files on all of us. I don't snore for those who are wondering who to bunk with in the camps.

I have had that same warning for the last year or two. It might be related to security protocols installed into my computer by my IT guy (DS ). I just ignore it.

@sam - you mean Dear Son? or Doomsteader?

And yes, the "warning" is because the site doesn't support https.

    @Simba, see ya at camp!

Well, even using Tor, I still get the same pop up insecure message.

    Site still renders okay.

Im in class so a long answer is there is no issue here.
I do not run a secure certificate on the server (https) which would be needed to encrypt all the text on the pages (like you would see in a shopping cart).
A couple years ago google started playing security nazi on all sites that had any form (like the forum text box) and were not running a encrypted cert (which requires an annual fee).

our postings are not publicly available outside the site news forum due to passwords.
I will not be installed a cert anytime soon on the server as I do not collect any sensitive financial data.

If this is a concern for some, then I understand.
However, that's why you are seeing the message.

Thanks for the info, Alex. I saw this message since day one, and not worried about it one bit.
