Depends on what else we get done today but may be moving the forums to the new server. This will mean the forums will be closed while we do it. Nobody panic :-)

Opps you got your hands full. Well, I can wait I guess. Thanks.
Doom bunnies might pout, but we never panic.
Thanks for the head's up! Can't wait to go zipping along on the new server!
Actually this one has been running so well, i am not sure how much faster it will be for the money Lol
Oh well, Who knew :-)
We are running on the new server. Now to see if anything went whacko in the switch.
That was quick! Thank you!
Complete migration from one server to the new one. Went well. Will be keeping the old server running in case of something unforeseen for a bit... but so far it's just fast.
Zippy n solid. Bout time something worked as planned. :-)
Oh-oh, it crashed my browser three times!
Just kidding.
:) Great!
Yeah tell me about it. But if it makes you feel any better it was hell getting to this point :-) The server arrived with a bad system board so we had to have another shipping and we installed it here.
Just happy its all finally in place.
It does seem much faster to me.
Wow, it types faster than I think...it seems to read my mind...
Tug
Nice. I was hoping that would work. At least you can blame anything you want on the server after the fact.
:-)
I see we're running very slow right now... working on it. Sorry
Its a temperature issue in the server room. i have corrected it but it will slowly recover speed wise.
sorry.
SO much for an early bedtime.
Sorry for the quick reboot. Resetting temp monitors
Hopefully that will be the last server reboot needed. Speed should return to normal shortly.
Sorry. Crappy timing With the quake I know. :-(
We've been working this non stop today. Trying to isolate where the slowdowns are coming from.
Have to say, I wasnt expecting to pick up this type of outside BS when I started hosting the LATOC stuff.
Will get past it... just feeling a bit beaten up today.
Not sure... been a long night.
Disabling avatars until I find the source of the disruption.
Alex - hang in there. You have no idea how much we appreciate your work.
Thanks zen... just a weak moment. I am tired is all.
Ok, lets see how this does. I think we may be on the front end of this now.
Nerves are frazzled.
good thing doomers dont panic or give up :-P
Just remember to breathe, Alex. :)
ahhh.... back to normal.
Server uptime: 3 hours 1 minute 22 seconds
Total accesses: 194,443
Total Traffic: 738.1 MB
CPU Usage: 1.8% CPU load
17.9 requests/sec
Thanks for your great effort and dedication Alex. If you feel those numbers are "back to normal" then it is out-standing in a field I know nothing about. Good work.
We are back and running. Lots of testing concluded that something corrupted our install of Apache on the new server. So tomorrow or soon we will redo the entire install from scratch.
For now we are on the backup server (the first one) and running solid.
I hope you all know how much I appreciate your patience. I wouldnt call myself superstitious but I have never seen a string of shit luck like this since the LATOC implosion. There has been more issues in the past 4 months than the last 12 years combined running forums. Was beginning to doubt I knew what the hell I was doing. I bet others are as well.
But I cant quit. Never quit. It's not the doomer way :-)
Thanks again everyone!!!
Alex
Thanks for all your hard work Alex! We really appreciate it and our patience is the least we could give!
Well, given that we have run through the night and the instant issues cleared up we think we might have a handle on it.
Going to let it run for another 24 or 48 hrs on the current setup. If it stays solid then we will move it back to the fast server again this weekend with the fix in place.
uncle uncle uncle...
Alex -
Way to go! This is lightning fast!!!
Fairly confident we resolved the issue.. will be moving back to the new server this weekend.
we are pushing about 1 million connections per day and 3.5 gigs of data per day as well.
Server uptime: 1 day 15 hours 7 minutes 35 seconds
Total accesses: 1,726,045
Total Traffic: 6.3 GB
CPU Usage: .37% CPU load
Just an FYI.. I have had the new server ready to go but with the events of this weekend and thus far today, i am waiting as i dont want to bring us down for any period of time.
I know we're not running super fast but right now, it seems uptime is more valuable that lightning speed.
Thanks, Alex. I agree with your opinion.
Just a quick reboot to get some speed back. If the news calms down this week we will move to new server.
