    Some down time cometh

Just a heads up. There will be some upgrades on the server (most likely late in the evening - early morning).
But it could take 2-3 hours when it happens.

The server is doubling the RAM, getting faster processing and all hard drives are going to SSD.

Not that the damn thing isnt fast as hell now but the SSD change over should be awesome.

Anyway, it shouldnt be till late tonight.

    Just a heads up.

    Looks like all went well.
    We've been upgraded to:
    8 GB RAM
    6 CPU Cores
    192 GB SSD Storage
    8 TB Monthly Transfer
    40 Gbit Network In
    1000 Mbit Network Out

The extra gigs of Ram and SSD drives are blazingly fast.

The migration happened last night between 1am and 3am.

There should be no effect on the forums as this was purely a hardware upgrade. The forum server is the same exact disk image (same code).

    So it's just speed :-)

Thanks for all your effort with this site alex.
Nah, the real preppers aren't laughing. They're praying that with the intense economic, social and financial "low" continuing to build, they manage to stay clear of the debris the cyclones/tornadoes spawned will throw as they rip apart global economies, local societies, and everything else in between - OldeFoole

I have no idea what any of this means but it sounds impressive! Cheers!

I upgraded my recording computer in January,

    i7 chip set (4quad)
    32 gigs of ram
    256 SSD C drive
    3 terrabyte HD

The computer is a screamer. I recorded a full band with 16 channels coming in and it only used 20% of Ram and 10% of CPU. This should hold me for the next 5-8 years.
It is never too late to have a happy childhood.
